Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery requires 4 to 6 years of additional hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school and/or medical school. As an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Dr. Olejko manages a wide variety of conditions and diseases relating to the mouth, teeth and facial skeleton. He practices the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with expertise in dental implant surgery and bone reconstruction, wisdom tooth removal and surgical correction of dentofacial deformities. His scope of practice also includes the diagnosis and management of facial trauma, TMJ disorders and surgical reconstruction of the bony structures of the jaws, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of oral & maxillofacial pathology.
Dr. Olejko is a native of Lorain,Ohio. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry at Miami University in Oxford, OH. He then graduated Cum Laude from the Ohio State University College of Dentistry, and also received a Master of Science degree from the University of Iowa Graduate School.
Dr. Olejko completed his specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital and the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Dr. Olejko is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and a member of the American Dental Association, Ohio Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Great Lakes Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dr. Olejko has been active in teaching residents and teaching appointments have included attending staff and clinical instructor at the Carle Clinic Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program in Urbana, Illinois. He was also a clinical instructor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He has been an adjunct clinical professor at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at The Ohio Sate University.
Current affiliations include active staff at St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville and Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware. Dr. Olejko has also been an attending staff at Grant Hospital, Mr. Carmel East Hospital, Children's Hospital, University Hospitals and Doctors' Hospitals in Columbus.
Dr. Olejko has been married for over 35 years and is the proud parent of two grown children. He resides in the central Ohio and during his spare time enjoys traveling, attending continuing education conferences, gardening, reading and spending time with his family.
The members of the Oral and Maxillofacial surgery staff are experienced professionals who are all CPR and BLS certified.
Our staff is trained in assisting with Intravenous (IV) sedation or outpatient general anesthesia in our state-of-the-art office setting. Patients are continuously monitored during and after surgery.
