Surgical Care
After Arthrocentesis and Arthroscopy
- Elevate head of bed when resting.
- Apply ice to area for 24 hours.
- Maintain a clear liquid diet until recovered from the anesthetic. the diet may be advanced to soft foods as tolerated. Maintain a soft food diet for two weeks.
- Apply Neosporin Ointment to the suture area two times per day. It is okay to shower and shampoo starting the next day.
- Perform the jaw exercises as directed every hour or so while awake.
- Take the medication as prescribed.
- Call our office if you have any questions.
- If you have a bite plate, continue to wear it as directed.
